One of the examples of new telecommunication
services claimed by the market from the end of the 90-th can serve telephone
conferences and "telemeeting" services, that specialists destine for brilliant
future. The "telemeeting" service reminds a audioconference. The essence
of telemeeting is, that the subscriber when in any place (for example, in
the office, at home, in the car) can call some known for him number, and become
a participant of any conference, and the number of conferences, operating
in the given moment, can be arbitrary. At the input of the chosen conference
it is possible both to carry out authorization of the participant, and to
connect the subscriber immediately.
The audioconferences are available
at many PBX manufacturers as additional hardware opportunities, which are
easily realized and are rather cheap if the number of the conferees does
not exceed 8. At the greater number of conferees the expenses increase spasmodically
and require installation of additional equipment (an additional station in
fact), which cost frequently exceeds the cost of the PBX. Such is for example
the audioconference system of the Irish company Confertel. Its cost
is about of $1000 per a conferee for analog (loop start) connection and
about of $1500 for ISDN PRI digital connection. The computer telephony presents
here an alternative solution - Artix InterCall audioconferencing system
on the basis of special conferencing boards, which combine relative cheapness
(cost of the system is $500 per a conferee and lower and connection with the station
is only digital) and intellectual opportunities of computers for on-line
conference control and monitoring.
